In addition to her academic interests, Dr. El-Gabalawy is a Clinical Psychologist and registrant of the College of Psychologists of Manitoba and works clinically in Shared Health Manitoba. She practices in the Medical Psychology Service. Her primary clinical interests are in behavioural medicine, trauma related disorders including post-traumatic stress disorder, and anxiety disorders. Her public practice focuses on medical trauma (e.g., awareness during surgery and other adverse surgical events, acute onset of illness). Dr. El-Gabalawy has expertise in cognitive behavioural and trauma-related therapies (cognitive processing therapy and prolonged exposure) along with acceptance and commitment based therapy. She primarily works with adults. Referrals are accepted from physicians and the referral form can be accessed here. She occasionally accepts patients within private practice and can be contacted through the Manitoba Psychological Society portal regarding availability.

Dr. El-Gabalawy also offers minor and major rotations annually in the Clinical Health Psychology residency program in Medical Trauma.
